Paramedic Adventures, a poem (Lyme Disease Awareness Month)

Peace, love and light everyone, I hope all is well. This is Lyme Disease Awareness Month and I wrote this poem in my Writing to Wellness class too. Being a writer and self-published author I love it when I can take classes and workshops that helps me sharpen my skills. As they say, iron sharpens iron and that is definitely what this class does for me.

We were challenged again to write a poem that addressed a form of trauma that we had been through and something very emotional. I wrote the beginnings of this poem in my class and it took a couple of days to finish it.

The title of this poem is, “Paramedic Adventures” and you will hear about the second time in less than a month that I had to go to the emergency room in the beginning part of the battle with Lyme disease before I even knew I had it. I can’t believe how long ago this was and I still remember it like it was yesterday.

The one thing about Lyme disease is quite a few of us have seen the ER way more than we would like to, been hospitalized and have had our fair share of paramedic rides. A lot of us receive treatments such as IV’s, procedures, sometimes surgeries and scans as I talked about in another video whether it’s an MRI, CAT scan, etc. Testing from various specialists and the list goes on.

It’s a very complex and misunderstood disease. I’m hoping that through my videos that I can enlighten people about this disease and spread awareness. If you like or love what you hear please share. I invite you to subscribe to my YouTube channel at divinewryte.

Mental Bondage, a poem (Mental Health Awareness Month)

Photo Credit By Wallace Chuck at Pexels.com
Blessings everyone, I pray all is well. May is also Mental Health Awareness Month. I had the honor of doing a self-care presentation virtually for a wonderful organization in Maryland that is comprised of caregivers and professional support staff that help those with intellectual disabilities. We talked about various ways and techniques they can do that are free and very low cost so they can take really good care of themselves since they are in the roles of caring for others. That was a blessing and I’m thankful for that organization reaching out to me during this month.
.

I decided to finally record this poem that is in my first poetry book, “Reconstruction, Pieces of Life Volume 1” titled, “Mental Bondage.” I talk about some of the battles that some people go through with a mental illness that I have spoken to and in particular the poem is talking about folks who went cold turkey off of all their medications and supplements and it sent them into a downward spiral.

Please feel free to like and share and I invite you to subscribe to my YouTube channel at divinewryte.

I also invite you to peruse through  my website where you can purchase poetry books, videos and podcasts, and an inspiring blog. You can also learn more about my health and wellness coaching practice (Divine Wryte Wellness) where I offer individual and group sessions, workplace wellness stress reduction programs, workshops and so much more.
.

Many blessings to you and remember to be kind to yourself, know your boundaries or learn to make some and pray for those that are really going through mental health issues and illnesses.

Peace, love and light.

Mirror Image, National Poetry Month Post #5

Photo Credit by Cottonbro on Pexels.com

Blessings everyone, I hope and pray that everyone is well. April is National Poetry Month and today is the last day. I’ve been sharing poems every week and this is one of my newest pieces titled, “Mirror Image.” The form of poetry is called a “cleave” poem. I learned about this form of poetry in my Writing to Wellness class through Creative Suitland that I am in and we were challenged to write about something that needs attention and to be healed.

You will hear in the video below that I discovered while sitting still for the most part in this pandemic that I am a reflection of my mother. Myself and my mother have a lot of things in common (God rest her soul) which are great, but in this particular instance, I’m talking about a challenge that held us back and could have blocked blessings for my future if I did not pause to recognize it.

I hope that this poem can indeed help someone on their healing journey. The one thing I have learned within this pandemic is that it’s okay to be still even with feelings that you might not be comfortable with and to address those feelings and wounds so the baggage can be tackled and put away properly.

If you like or love what you hear, I invite you to browse my website where you can find more great poetry, books, my blog, workshops and events.

Be well, safe and blessed.
