Your Broken Pieces are Beautiful

Inspirational moment:

Good day everyone! I know its been a while since I posted a blog. After my grandmother transitioned in November, a lot of things came to a halt. Learning to live life without her is a process.

I know many of you may be going through a lot right now, some may have even lost a loved one like me recently. There’s so much going on in the world. I decided to share this blog from last spring. The title of the poem I’m reading is, “Burning Burden.” Whatever doesn’t break us will make us stronger. I know that is cliche, but it is true. Even those who feel broken…as I learned in a course I took that our life is like a mosaic. No piece is perfect and when you step back and look at the bigger picture of broken pieces, it’s transformed into a beautiful masterpiece.

If no one has told you…you are beautiful no matter how many broken pieces you may have. Every bit is being transformed into a masterpiece. Many blessings.

Together in Teal 2020!

Together in Teal happened on Saturday, September 26th, 2020 where chapters, organizations, supporters and ovarian cancer survivors along with their families and friends united to do various events nationally to raise awareness and money for ovarian cancer.

Together in Teal was organized by the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC). I wanted to do my part so please take some time out to watch the video I posted onto YouTube above.

I am still selling Crying Tears of Teal book bundles which have swag and imperative information in them for a $20 plus shipping and handling of $3.00, ($23.00 total).

You can purchase a book through my store by clicking here.

75% of the proceeds from this book bundle will go to chapters and organizations that are raising awareness. Those are Nell’d It out of Austin, TX lead by Sheila Edwards and Archette Holmes, the DC Metro and Central Maryland Chapters of NOCC and SHARE Cancer Support Group based out of New York City.

I would like to sell out of my books by this Wednesday so please help me reach that goal, so I can in return give back to these wonderful organizations. Whether you have my book (buy one as a gift for someone) or not please consider supporting by purchasing a Crying Tears of Teal book bundle.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this month! God bless and be well.

Self Publishing 201 Workshop was Fantastic!

I held a Self-Publishing 201 & Poetry Workshop: The Next Steps on Saturday August 29th and once again it was a great time. A lot was shared and learned by those who participated and there were a lot of great questions. Folks walked away with knowing that when it comes to writing and publishing your book, this is not a race, but a marathon. I’m grateful because I always learn from everyone who has participated in any of my workshops. I tell folks that if you create and facilitate workshops to always make sure that your ears and your heart are also open to learning from those who are in attendance.

Before we got started with the workshop I asked the ladies who were there how are they feeling in that moment. I think it’s very important to acknowledge the times that we are all in and to let folks be able to air out how they are honestly feeling.

This was the first time I have offered this particular workshop and I am blessed and highly favored to be able to create this and share it.

With that, I am taking a small break until the middle of October, between virtual school starting for my son and I’m working on some things personally myself and this will give me time to schedule out the rest of the fall and early winter.

Stay tuned for more workshops starting in late October, everything from Self-Publishing to Health and Wellness topics. Feel free to sign up on my website for my newsletter at www.serenawills.com for writing and publishing and/or www.divinewryte.com for health and wellness. It’s going to be a good time, a moment to drill down on your purpose, a time to heal and commit to yourself what you are going to do to continue to grow and be bettER! God bless everyone 🙏🏾

Now is The Time!

The path to writing a book whether it’s long, or short is quite the journey. There is a such thing as “your book talking to you.” This week I’ve been working on my Lyme Disease Memoir nonstop. At first my book took a break from “talking to me” but then it started to hit me again last week.

Thankful that my story is coming together and I know that it will help a lot of people and bring awareness. Ask yourself today, what is it that you want to write? Is there an idea or something you’re supposed to write down that is talking to you? Take the first step and then another and before you know it you will be at the end of the road…in other words, a completed manuscript. Be patient with yourself…it takes time.

The picture above was taken at Oxon Hill Farm. I loved this path and that it can represent many things.
